Fun Fact: without my mother, I wouldn’t have experienced the gloriousness of crumpets; I also wouldn’t really exist.
I wish she was here so we could enjoy them together. Happy Mother’s Day, mom. I love you!

So, I don’t know if you know this, but my mom is kind of a big deal… even though she’s a spritely 5’2.75. Seriously though, my mom is awesome - I’m surprised she’s been able to put up with me and 21 years of antics. But then again, this is the woman who worked three jobs, payed for her wedding AND drove a bug with a wind up key on the back. Badass? Yup. Kind of cute too? You betcha.
So thank you, Mama Honey. I miss you every day, and even though I can be a sassy-pants diva, I love a whole heck of a lot. I know that I wouldn’t be here without you, and I sure wouldn’t have the Mathis nose. So thank you for taking me to all of my soccer, hockey, and (for an unfortunate stint) basketball functions, for getting me hooked on coffee as a toddler, for all the medium teas, the Italian chicken dinners, the never-wasted nights watching House Hunters, the back scratches, the shopping sprees, and the Mexico dune-buggy driving lesson. I’m afraid that without you I wouldn’t be half of what I am, and I would absolutely be more boring.
I love you to pieces.
My Mike… Your Mike?
xoxoxo
What a lovely place indeed. We were fortunate enough to be LaDonna Rees’ excuse to get a little color in her life. I don’t know about her, but for Selah, Sheridan, Emily, and I, we got a double-dose of awesome between the tulips and being with her.
Needless to say, anyone with two lips (…or just anyone period) should check out the Tulip Festival. Granted, we had LaDonna, so your experience won’t be quite as awesome, but I hope it comes close…
